Looking to improve upon both the livability and function of their home, the owner’s wanted to explore integrating an elevated rear deck off their existing kitchen for morning coffee along the city streetscape. The raise deck provides the opportunity for parking of an electric car below, giving maximum value to a somewhat underutilized space.
Aesthetically, this structure was to present itself to the neighborhood as a clean façade having modern lines. The vertical pattern providing a measured rhythm to the passer by. A row of shrubbery located atop the façade becomes a balustrade of green, which acts as a screening device between the city street and raised deck space.
